Made(really)well

26 Oct

On Wednesday, the JCrew brand Madewell* opened a store in the Cherry Creek Mall, making it the Mile High City’s first official shop. We took a field trip as soon as possible and today we’re both wearing new Madewell items that are quickly becoming our fall favorites.

Laura picked up the Striped Diary Dress and added brown boots, black tights, and a blue suede belt to accentuate the waist. Jill got the Easygoing Tee in Dot, initially intended for this skirt that has turned out to be tricky to match, but equally appropriate for a casual Friday.

What’s your favorite Madewell fall item?

*According to JCrew’s About page, they introduced Madewell in 2006 as “modern-day interpretation of an American denim label founded in 1937.”

Dotty

I just celebrated my birthday and received the cute polka dot top below (just in time for fall!). Here’s how I plan on dressing it up and dressing it down.

Just Splendid

6 Sep

I’ve relied on Splendid for years as the source for comfy cotton tees. Yesterday at Nordstrom I noticed that the brand had expanded into the wonderful world of women’s shoes. Check out these office-worthy finds.

I’d wear these funky oxfords with something classic like a pencil skirt and button down shirt.

These wedges work for a more casual office and would be so cute with cuffed chinos.

I love a good loafer and blazer – so schoolboy.

Colorful Casual Friday

16 Mar

Y’all, it’s Friday. Let’s celebrate by getting all dressed up keeping it casual.

Laura’s geek chic glasses, color blocked scarf and classic navy blazer make a great casual Friday ensemble. I love that she incorporated a staple item with some trendy accessories for a great transitional (is it winter? is it spring?) outfit.

Can you guess who else recently turned to this same great combo? I’ll give you a hint: she’s British.
